Wash it, dry it, use it.
Linen rewards simple care. Follow these steps and your tea towel will only get better.
One of the best things about linen is how little work it requires. Wash it, dry it, use it. The texture you feel when it's new is not the final version — after a few washes, the fibres relax and soften.
Machine wash in cold or warm water — up to 40°C (104°F). Use a gentle, colour-safe detergent. Avoid bleach. For the first wash, wash on its own as there may be minor dye bleeding.
Tumble dry on low heat or air dry flat. If air drying, give the towel a gentle shake while still damp to keep the fibres from going stiff. Avoid high heat.
Not required, but iron on medium-high heat while slightly damp for a smooth finish. Natural linen wrinkles are part of the character.
Treat promptly — blot rather than rub. Dish soap for oil-based stains. Cold water and patience for everything else.
Linen gets better the more it's washed. Fibres loosen, colours settle into a beautiful lived-in tone. With basic care, these tea towels will be with you for years.
